The 31st National Computerized Accounting Competition Successfully Held at Kyungnam University

The 31st National Computerized Accounting Competition, sponsored by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and the National Tax Service, and co-hosted by the Korea Computerized Accounting Education Association and Kyungnam University, was held successfully on July 12, 2025, at Kyungnam University. The event brought together 804 participants, including high school and university students as well as members of the general public from across the country, including Gyeonggi, Busan, Incheon, Chungbuk, Jeonnam, Daegu, and Ulsan, all aspiring to pursue careers in accounting.

This year, marking its 31st anniversary, the competition was held on an even grander scale. As the oldest and most prestigious competition of its kind in Korea, its purpose is to foster skilled accounting professionals and to promote the creation of an advanced and transparent accounting environment suitable for the online era.


Over the past 31 years, the continued hosting of this competition and the proactive educational and promotional efforts of the Korea Computerized Accounting Education Association have led specialized commercial high schools and business-related universities nationwide to adopt computerized tax accounting as a regular subject. This has also encouraged most companies to introduce computerized tax accounting programs, thereby helping to enhance the timeliness and reliability of accounting practices.


The top award of the competition, the Minister of Education Award, was presented to Kim Boseon (Gimhae Hanil Girls' High School) for Level 2 Corporate Accounting Practice in the high school division and Kim Hyojeong (Hanil Girls' High School) for Level 2 Tax Accounting Practice. The Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award went to Son Mingyu (Yeungjin College) for Level 2 Computerized Tax Accounting and Jo Ara (Gimhae Hanil Girls' High School) for Level 1 Computerized Accounting Information. The Minister of SMEs and Startups Award was given to Hwang Hyebin (Kyungnam University) for Level 1 Computerized Tax Accounting and Park Jineun (Hanil Girls' High School) for Level 2 Computerized Accounting Information. The Commissioner of the National Tax Service Award was presented to Hwang Hyebin (Kyungnam University) for Level 1 Corporate Accounting Practice and Jo Youngje (Seowon University) for Level 1 Tax Accounting Practice.


The Gyeongsangnam-do Superintendent of Education Award was given to Ha Yejin (Milsung Jeil High School) for Level 2 Computerized Accounting Information, Lee Eunseo (Sacheon Girls' High School) for Level 2 Computerized Accounting Information, Kim Boseon (Gimhae Hanil Girls' High School) for Level 1 Computerized Accounting Information, Gu Dagyo (Gimhae Hanil Girls' High School) for Level 1 Computerized Accounting Information, Kim Hyojeong (Hanil Girls' High School) for Level 2 Corporate Accounting Practice, Lee Dokyeong (Gimhae Hanil Girls' High School) for Level 2 Corporate Accounting Practice, Hwang Yujin (Gimhae Hanil Girls' High School) for Level 2 Tax Accounting Practice, and Kim Dugyeong (Busan Information High School) for Level 2 Tax Accounting Practice. The Gyeongsangnam-do Governor's Award was presented to Hong Sunyong (Seowon University) for Level 1 Computerized Tax Accounting, Song Nayoung (Seowon University) for Level 2 Computerized Tax Accounting, Lee Jonghun (Kyungnam University) for Level 1 Corporate Accounting Practice, and Hong Sunyong (Seowon University) for Level 1 Tax Accounting Practice.


Professor Kim Taewan of Kyungnam University received the Minister of Science and ICT Award in recognition of his contributions to nurturing future talent and scholarship programs for students. Son Kyuhyeon, CEO of Gwangtae Industry, received the Commissioner of the National Tax Service Award for his contributions.


Kim Seunghyun, president of the Korea Computerized Accounting Education Association, stated, "The association will continue to strive to make this competition a cornerstone for fostering a productive academic atmosphere for accounting students in Korea, enhancing their accounting skills, and nurturing competent accounting professionals for a hopeful future." He added, "I offer my heartfelt applause to the students who worked hard in preparation for this competition, and I also extend my deepest gratitude to the teachers and professors who guided their students with passion and dedication."
