Car Left Hanging Over 3m Cliff Due to Parking Mistake at Yeonggwang Temple

A dramatic accident occurred in the parking lot of a temple in Yeonggwang County, South Jeolla Province, when a car was left hanging over a cliff about 3 meters high due to a parking mistake.

According to the Yeonggwang Fire Station in South Jeolla Province on July 13, the accident took place at around 2:42 p.m. the previous day in the parking lot of a temple in Gunnan-myeon, Yeonggwang County. After receiving a report from a citizen stating, "It looks like a car is about to fall," the fire authorities rushed to the scene and found the vehicle stopped with its front half hanging over the edge of the parking lot, partially suspended above the cliff.

It was reported that the driver accidentally drove the car past the parking boundary while attempting to park, causing the front of the vehicle to become stuck on the cliff edge and bringing the car to a halt just before it could fall.

There were four people in the car, including the driver, and all of them managed to escape from the vehicle on their own. During the evacuation, they sustained injuries such as wrist sprains and are receiving treatment at a hospital. Fortunately, their lives are not in danger.

A fire department official stated, "It could have led to a major accident, but thanks to the calm response of the occupants, there were no casualties."

The police and fire authorities are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
