Gyeonggi Province will conduct hygiene inspections of food service establishments in multi-use facilities.
On July 13, Gyeonggi Provincial Government announced that, due to the increased risk of food poisoning caused by heatwaves during the summer, it will carry out hygiene inspections of food-handling businesses located in multi-use facilities throughout the province from July 14 to 18.
This inspection is a preventive measure aimed at ensuring food safety and preventing food poisoning in food preparation and sales establishments, as well as franchise outlets, located in multi-use facilities that see a sharp increase in visitors during the summer vacation season.
The main inspection targets are approximately 720 food service establishments in the province, with 20 to 30 locations selected from each city and county. The inspections will be jointly conducted by the provincial and local governments. Key facilities to be inspected include restaurants and snack bars located in multi-use facilities such as terminals, amusement parks, recreational sites, water parks, and highway rest areas.
The main inspection items include: ▲ hygiene management during food preparation, storage, and sales processes; ▲ the sanitary condition of cooking utensils and staff; and ▲ compliance with food storage standards. Food poisoning prevention education will also be provided on site. If any serious violations are found during the inspection, food sampling and testing will be conducted.
Won Gong-sik, Director of Food Safety at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Food safety management at multi-use facilities is key to preventing food poisoning during the summer," adding, "We will conduct thorough inspections to create a hygienic environment where residents can use these facilities with confidence."
