In the era of population aging, a case that has simultaneously highlighted the health and community spirit of local seniors is drawing attention in Gimcheon.

Gamcheon Seniors Shine with Unity... Achieve Encouragement Award in Hangung Team Competition Gyeongbuk Gimcheon Gamcheon-myeon Hangung Team Wins 'Encouragement Award' in Group Category.

Gamcheon-myeon in Gimcheon received the Encouragement Award in the group category at the 4th Gimcheon Senior Citizens’ Hangung Competition, symbolically demonstrating both the healthy aging of the elderly population and the unity of the local community.


The competition was held successfully on July 10, 2025, at Gimcheon University Life Hall, with the Gamcheon-myeon representative team consisting of seniors with an average age of over 70.


Through months of steady practice, meticulous teamwork, and deep mutual trust, the team showcased a stable performance that was highly praised by both the judges and the audience.


In particular, the 'united spirit' displayed by the athletes throughout the competition went beyond mere physical activity, serving as a symbolic representation of the strong solidarity and community spirit within the local community.


During the subsequent dance time, the Gamcheon-myeon team led the atmosphere with their cohesive energy and lively performance, turning the venue into a scene of excitement and delivering a positive message to the community.


Lee Sangjin, head of Gamcheon-myeon, emphasized, "This award is an achievement that means more than just a competition result. It is the outcome of the passion and unity of Gamcheon’s seniors, and it fully reflects the strength of our local community."


He added, "We will continue to expand various leisure and health programs so that our seniors can maintain a vibrant and healthy life."


Meanwhile, Gamcheon-myeon plans to use this award as an opportunity to further strengthen programs that support seniors’ social participation and healthy aging. The scope will be expanded not only to sports activities but also to cultural and welfare sectors, with the goal of further enhancing the 'quality of life' within the local community in this era of population aging.
