'Nevertheless, Beomeosa' to Be Held
Special Exhibition-Linked Event for Museum and Art Museum Week Project
The Seongbo Museum of Beomeosa, Geumjeong Chongnim (Chief Monk and Director: Monk Jeong-O), will host the exhibition-linked program 'Nevertheless, Beomeosa' on August 3, 2025, delivering artistic inspiration even amidst the intense summer heat.
This event is an experiential program connected to the special exhibition 'Nevertheless, Great Compassion' of the 2025 Museum and Art Museum Week project 'Museum×Enjoy.' It will offer an opportunity to meet contemporary artists Kim Jungju and Wu Jing, and to share artistic messages with the audience.
During the 90-minute program, participants will reflect on the struggles of creation and the meaning of life through conversations with the artists. They will also experience art by creating their own fans using the cyanotype sun printing technique, which utilizes sunlight.
This experience is expected to foster an artistic sense of empathy that bridges tradition and the environment, delivering messages about the climate crisis and carbon neutrality.
Monk Jeong-O stated, "This exhibition will serve as a channel through which art conveys messages of empathy that transcend time and space," and added, "I hope this will be a meaningful opportunity for visitors to reflect on culture, art, nature, and the environment together at Beomeosa, even during the sweltering heat."
The special exhibition 'Nevertheless, Great Compassion,' which opened in May, brings together late Joseon to modern-era Beomeosa signboards and contemporary art in one space, expressing the coexistence of tradition and the present through art. This exhibition encompasses the Buddhist value of 'Great Compassion' and contemporary sensibilities, delivering a profound resonance to visitors.
In addition, a variety of programs will be held during the summer vacation period, including the healing-in-nature program 'Forest of Healing, Beomeosa' and the family-oriented experiential festival 'Yadanbeopseok.' All experiences can be reserved through the Seongbo Museum website.
