Samsung Electronics DS Division (Semiconductors) has expressed strong confidence in its next-generation mobile chipset, the Exynos 2600.

Yongin Park, President and Head of the System LSI Division at Samsung Electronics, met with reporters on his way to attend the mentoring event "Korean Academy of Engineering Young Festival" held at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the 11th. He stated, "Following the Exynos 2500, we are steadily preparing for the Exynos 2600," and added, "We expect good results."

The Exynos 2500 is Samsung Electronics' latest mobile application processor (AP) and has been fully equipped in the foldable smartphone "Galaxy Z Flip7," which was launched the previous day. The AP serves as the brain of a smartphone, and the Exynos 2500 is the first smartphone AP manufactured by Samsung using the 3-nanometer process.

The Exynos 2500 was designed by the System LSI Division of the DS Division and manufactured by the Foundry Division. It was developed using the state-of-the-art 3-nanometer (1nm = one-billionth of a meter) process based on Gate-All-Around (GAA) technology.

Industry experts believe that the future success of the Galaxy Z Flip7 will impact both the performance improvement of the System LSI Division and the development and launch of the next-generation Exynos. It has already been reported that revenue from the initial shipment of the Exynos 2500 has been reflected from the end of the second quarter. Securities analysts expect that the System LSI Division, which has struggled in recent quarters, saw its revenue increase by about 1 trillion won in the second quarter and also reduced its operating loss.

Samsung Electronics has set its top priority as equipping the Exynos 2600, which will be mass-produced using the 2-nanometer process at the end of this year, in the Galaxy S26 scheduled for release early next year. The main competitor is Qualcomm. Regarding whether the Galaxy S26 will be equipped with the Exynos 2600, President Yongin Park said, "That is up to our client," declining to elaborate further.

At the beginning of this year, regarding the management review of the System LSI Division initiated by the Management Diagnosis Office under Samsung Global Research, Park stated, "We are waiting for the results," and added, "It is difficult to predict any organizational restructuring."

On July 8, Samsung Electronics announced that its provisional sales and operating profit for the second quarter were 74 trillion won and 4.6 trillion won, respectively. Operating profit decreased by 55.94% compared to the previous year. The confirmed results will be released on July 31.
