OCI Holdings is showing strong performance. This is believed to be influenced by news that the Presidential Office is pushing for the enactment of a special law to create an 'RE100 (Renewable Energy 100%) Industrial Complex.'
As of 9:44 a.m. on July 11, OCI Holdings was trading at 93,000 won, up 10.83% from the previous day.
The previous day, Kim Yongbeom, Policy Chief of the Presidential Office, stated in a briefing, "This afternoon, we reported plans to promote these measures at a chief aides' meeting presided over by the President." After receiving the report, President Lee instructed, "In principle, please review making the RE100 industrial complex a 'regulation zero' zone," and added, "Also, review more groundbreaking support measures related to education and settlement, as well as consider providing exceptional electricity rate discounts for companies in the industrial complex."
The Presidential Office's plan is for companies located in the 'RE100 industrial complex' to conduct business activities using 100% renewable energy, such as wind or solar power. Accordingly, Kim explained that a task force (TF) will be formed, centered on the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, to pursue the enactment of a special law and the creation of the industrial complex as the top policy priority.
Meanwhile, on the same day, the New Growth Strategy Planning and Promotion Team of the Ministry of Economy and Finance held a public-private council meeting on solar renewable energy at the UNESCO International Centre of Martial Arts in Chungju, North Chungcheong Province. The meeting was attended by related ministries such as the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, local governments such as the North Chungcheong Provincial Office and Chungju City Hall, research institutes related to the solar industry, and supply chain companies.
On this day, the promotion team visited the floating solar facility at Chungju Dam to examine the process of win-win cooperation with the local community and to check environmental safety. At the council meeting, participants also discussed trends in solar technology, including floating solar, and the importance of ESG management.
Companies in attendance, including HD Hyundai Energy Solutions, Hanwha Solutions, and OCI Power, made proposals such as ▲ fostering the domestic solar industry ▲ expanding the adoption of solar power in Korea ▲ supporting the development of core solar technologies, and requested government support. OCI Power is a subsidiary of OCI Holdings.
