According to data recently submitted to the office of Han Jia, a member of the People Power Party, by the National Assembly Secretariat, Kang appointed 51 aides over the past five years since being elected to the National Assembly, and during the same period, 46 aides were dismissed.
The typical staff for a member of the National Assembly consists of a total of nine aides, including two aides equivalent to grade 4 and two senior secretaries equivalent to grade 5.
Kang's frequent replacement of aides is being described as unusual within political circles. However, the National Assembly Secretariat explained that "since changes in individual job grades are included, the same person may be counted more than once."
Han Jia pointed out, "Given the frequent turnover of aides, there are doubts as to whether Kang Sunwoo can responsibly lead and manage the organization as Minister of Gender Equality and Family, a position that requires respect for people."
Kang Sunwoo has also faced allegations that, during her time as a member of the National Assembly, she abused her power by making her aides take out her household trash or fix broken toilets. Kang's side has stated that she will address these allegations during the confirmation hearing.
