The National Innovation Party issued a statement calling the court's decision to detain former President Yoon Sukyeol a "natural course of justice."

On the 10th, party spokesperson Yoon Jaegwan commented, "Yoon Sukyeol, the ringleader of the rebellion, has been detained again. He has returned to his original place?the detention center."

National Innovation Party: "Isolating the Ringleader of the Rebellion from Society Is Justice... He Must Stop Bringing Shame to the People" Former President Yoon Sukyeol arrived at the Seoul Central District Court in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on the 9th to attend the warrant hearing for abuse of authority and other charges and is waiting to disembark. Yoon, who was indicted with an arrest warrant by the special investigation team on the December 3 emergency martial law incident led by special prosecutor Joeunseok, now faces re-arrest 172 days after his initial warrant hearing on charges including leading a rebellion on January 18. 2025.07.09 Photo by Joint Press Corps

He continued, "He never once apologized to the people, and in court, he shamelessly lied. With his words, he betrayed his subordinates until the very end. He will be forever remembered in history as the most disgraceful ringleader of a rebellion, shifting blame onto his subordinates." Yoon added, "Had he at least taken responsibility for everything himself, he might have received a shred of sympathy, but he rejected even that."

He stated, "It is only just that the ringleader of a rebellion who tried to rule over the people be isolated from society for a long time. Now that your feast has come to a close today, you must no longer bring shame to the people. No matter how many words you have, you have nothing left to say."

Former President Yoon was detained by court order. He was previously detained on January 19 on charges of leading a rebellion and abuse of authority, but was released on March 8 after the court canceled his detention. Now, four months later, he has been detained again. The court reviewed whether to detain Yoon on five charges requested by the special investigation team on the rebellion and decided on detention due to concerns about destruction of evidence. After the warrant hearing, Yoon will go through formal admission procedures and be incarcerated at Seoul Detention Center.
