Lotte Mart Launches 690-Won "Sangsaeng Paprika" and Holds "Seasonal Table Special Exhibition"

Ultra-Low Prices on Small-Sized Whole Produce
Diverse Nutritious Foods on Sale Ahead of Chobok

Lotte Mart announced on July 9 that it will hold a "Seasonal Table Special Exhibition," offering summer foods at ultra-low prices to support consumers weary from high prices and the heat. From July 10 to July 16, for seven days, the retailer will carefully select popular products that help boost summer appetites and restore energy, offering them at reasonable prices.

Lotte Mart Launches 690-Won "Sangsaeng Paprika" and Holds "Seasonal Table Special Exhibition" Jang Seokjin, MD, promoting Sangsaeng paprika at the vegetable corner of Lotte Mart Zeta Plex Jamsil Branch located in Songpa-gu, Seoul. Lotte Mart will sell 'Sangsaeng Paprika (each/Domestic)' for 690 won for three days from Thursday the 10th to Saturday the 12th. Provided by Lotte Mart.

For three days, from July 10 to July 12, "Sangsaeng Paprika" will be sold at a special price of 690 won when purchased with an event card. Although these paprikas are slightly smaller than standard sizes, they offer the same taste, sweetness, and nutritional value as regular ones, consisting of small-sized whole produce.

Sangsaeng Paprika is a cooperative planning product that reflects the characteristics of summer shipments and market conditions. During the summer, strong sunlight and high temperatures shorten the growing period of paprika, resulting in the harvest of large quantities of smaller-sized produce. This trend is especially pronounced in southern production areas, which experience higher average temperatures and more sunlight than other regions. Demand for small-sized paprikas is lower than for regular large ones, and with major export countries increasing their own domestic production, export volumes have also declined. As a result, farmers are facing difficulties securing stable sales channels.

In response, Lotte Mart will purchase and sell a total of 300,000 "Sangsaeng Paprika." This volume, harvested in Gimje, Jeonbuk, was prepared through advance agreements with local producers about a year ago and is approximately 20% larger than typical event volumes. The price of this product is about 30% lower than that of regular paprika during previous promotions. Lotte Mart aims to provide customers with reasonably priced paprika, which is in high demand for everyday cooking, while supporting stable sales channels for producers to help increase farm income.

In addition to paprika, Lotte Mart has prepared a variety of seasonal produce events to stimulate appetites. "Sangsaeng Peach (7-8 pieces/box)" sourced from renowned regions such as Imsil, Chungju, and Cheongdo, and "Sangju Sangsaeng Chamoe (1.5kg/bag)" will each be available for 7,990 won. "U.S. Cherries (650g/pack/U.S. origin)," delivered fresh by air, will be sold for 9,990 won, while "Sanjittukshim Gyeongsan Wacheon Plums (800g/pack)" will be offered at 7,990 won. The summer snack "Sea Breeze-Grown Mi-baek and Mi-heuk Glutinous Corn (3 pieces/bag each)" can be purchased for 2,990 won.

With Chobok (the first of the three hottest days in the lunar calendar) approaching, a range of nutritious foods will also be offered at dramatic discounts. "Samgyetang Chicken (370g/frozen)" will be available for 2,490 won, limited to 40,000 units, which is the lowest price in 2025. Each customer can purchase up to five. "Double Drumstick Dakbokkeumtang (1kg/chilled)," which features four drumsticks instead of two so the whole family can enjoy the most popular part, will be sold for 7,900 won. "Yorihada Ganghwa Samgyetang (1kg)" will be offered at a 2,000 won discount, for 6,990 won. "King Crab (100g/chilled/Russian origin)," selected for its high meat yield, will be available for 3,990 won, and "Abalone (each/chilled)" will be sold at 3,190 won for extra-large and 2,190 won for large sizes. "Octopus Seafood Stew (1.5kg/chilled)," cleaned and prepared with spicy seasoning, can be purchased for 18,900 won.

Jang Seokjin, MD of Lotte Mart and Supermarket's Vegetable Team, stated, "With high prices persisting, we are focusing on providing core foods that consumers frequently seek at affordable prices. We will continue to expand products that help ease the burden of grocery bills and promote win-win partnerships with producers."
