The Korean Medical Association (KMA) has proposed the establishment of a permanent consultative body on medical policy to the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW).

Kim Taekwoo, president of the KMA, announced this after holding a meeting with Lee Hyunghoon, the 2nd vice minister of the MOHW, at the KMA building in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the 8th.
According to the KMA, both sides reportedly reached a consensus during the meeting that communication based on trust must be maintained in order to protect public health.
Kim Taekwoo, president of the KMA, stated, "Vice Minister Lee Hyunghoon is someone with a deep understanding of and interest in the healthcare sector. He possesses both expertise and a willingness to communicate, so constructive cooperation with the medical community is anticipated."
He added, "Amid a series of dialogues between senior government officials, such as the prime minister and vice ministers, and the medical community, there is a growing consensus to make joint efforts based on trust and communication. Moving forward, we will actively pursue the normalization of the healthcare system through continued dialogue between the government and the medical community."
