Focusing on Preparation for the Confirmation Hearing

Kim Jeonggwan, Minister of Industry Nominee, Resigns from Doosan Enerbility Yonhap News Agency

Kim Jeonggwan, the nominee for Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, has recently resigned from Doosan Enerbility, where he was serving, and has begun the official process of returning to public office.

On July 8, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced, "Nominee Kim submitted his resignation to Doosan Enerbility on July 4, and the resignation process was completed on the same day."

Kim was recruited by Doosan Group in 2018 and has served as President and Chief Marketing Officer at Doosan Enerbility, leading overseas nuclear power plant export projects such as the Dukovany nuclear power plant order in the Czech Republic. Previously, he held key positions at the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Bank of Korea, making him a former economic official with experience in both the real economy and foreign affairs and trade. He is regarded as a 'businessperson minister' nominee with a well-rounded perspective.

Immediately after his nomination, Kim stated, "I have faith in the competitiveness of our companies and will work together with my colleagues at the ministry to overcome these challenges," expressing his ambitions.

Kim plans to focus on preparing for his confirmation hearing. The National Assembly will hold a confirmation hearing for Kim on July 17, where it plans to closely examine his integrity, the process of his asset formation, and the direction of his industrial policies.
