The meeting, held on July 1, was organized to discuss ways to strengthen the region's practical science and technology policy capabilities through systematic analysis and utilization of science and technology data. The two institutions shared their core functions and capabilities and engaged in in-depth discussions on the direction of practical cooperation.

KISTI, as a national specialized institution in science and technology information, not only collects and manages science and technology data but also leverages its analysis capabilities based on high-performance computing (HPC) to predict promising future technologies and support industrialization.

In response, BISTEP highlighted that analysis data based on science and technology information could be the key to solving local issues. The institute proposed collaboration on data analysis necessary for developing region-based science and technology policies and suggested establishing practical consultation channels.

Through this, both sides also reviewed the possibility of identifying specific collaborative projects, such as joint research and information linkage in the future.

Ko Byungyeol, Director of the KISTI Data Analysis Research Division, said, "It is a challenging task to independently establish and operate a data-driven system at the regional level, but such efforts are very meaningful, and KISTI will also seek ways to cooperate."

Kim Youngbu, President of BISTEP, stated, "In order to go beyond simply accepting the science and technology policy directions set by the government and to develop practical solutions tailored to local circumstances, collaboration with government-funded research institutes such as KISTI is essential. KISTI's advanced data infrastructure and analytical capabilities can greatly contribute to enhancing the credibility of Busan's policies, and I hope this will establish a new model of collaboration between central and regional science and technology innovation institutions."
