'AI' + 'Yu': Integrating AI into the Refining Industry
Reducing Repetitive Tasks with Employee-Created AI
Emphasizing 'DAX,' the Next Step After DX
GS Caltex is accelerating its efforts to transform the way it works by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI). Alongside company-wide digital transformation, the company has launched an integrated in-house platform called 'AIU,' which enables employees to directly apply AI technology to their daily tasks and aims to drive innovation across the organization.
On July 8, GS Caltex announced that it had recently introduced AIU, its integrated generative AI platform for internal use. The name AIU combines 'AI' and 'oil' (yu), reflecting the company’s strategic direction to enhance competitiveness by integrating AI into the refining industry.

This platform is designed so that employees can utilize company data and AI technology in their actual work without relying on external services. In particular, it provides a 'low-code' development tool that allows users to create intelligent work assistants with minimal programming, enabling the rapid development of practical applications compared to traditional methods.
The assistants created by employees can be shared and modified within the organization, which the company says will help spread a culture of AI utilization. GS Caltex plans to establish a structure in which repetitive tasks are handled by AI, allowing people to focus on strategic decision-making and creative work.
GS Caltex is positioning 'digital and AI transformation (DAX)'?which goes beyond digital transformation (DX) by incorporating AI technology?as a new growth axis. The company aims to build an AI collaboration system based on data and systems to enable rapid decision-making and efficient organizational management.
A GS Caltex representative stated, "By introducing AIU, we have created an environment where employees can directly utilize generative AI and transform the way they work," adding, "We plan to continue building an efficient, data-driven work environment going forward."
