Alteogen, a bio-platform company, announced on July 7 that it has appointed Dr. Youngpil Lee, who has demonstrated leadership in the biopharmaceutical development field for over 30 years, as Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer (CPO).
Executive Vice President Lee is an expert in the domestic biopharmaceutical development sector, having led all aspects of CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls) during more than 24 years at LG Life Sciences (now LG Chem Life Sciences Division) and Samsung Bioepis. In particular, he played a key role in obtaining a total of seven oncology and immunology biosimilar product approvals from the US FDA and the European EMA.
The title of CPO is typically used in the IT and platform industries for the executive responsible for product strategy. However, Alteogen has appointed Dr. Youngpil Lee as an executive vice president-level Chief Product Officer overseeing CMC, quality, manufacturing, and all aspects of productization. The company explained that this decision was made to secure more strategic and execution-oriented leadership in turning its proprietary technologies into actual commercial products.
Alteogen has recently begun in earnest the development and commercialization of a diverse pipeline based on its proprietary technologies, and is focusing significant resources on advancing its commercial manufacturing systems and quality management processes.
Executive Vice President Lee stated, "I took my first step into the bio industry 30 years ago through CEO Soonjae Park, and I have cherished that connection ever since," adding, "Based on the experience I have accumulated so far, I will carry on the founder's management philosophy and do my utmost to help Alteogen grow into a stable and sustainable global bio company."
