Three Basement Floors and Ten Above-Ground Floors
Dongjak District in Seoul will relocate its main district office from its current location in front of Noryangjin Station to the Jangseungbaegi Integrated Administrative Town in Sangdo-dong this month. This marks the first move in 45 years since its opening.
To minimize any disruption in administrative services, the district announced on July 7 that it will complete the phased relocation of each department between June 30 and July 14. Dongjak District also stated that it plans to begin a new chapter in its history at the new office building, located at 70 Jangseungbaegi-ro.

The new Dongjak District Office building, with a total floor area of 44,672 square meters and spanning three underground floors and ten above-ground floors, is drawing attention as Korea's first "Gwansang Bokhap Cheongsa" (a government-commercial complex office building) featuring Dongjak Administrative Town Plaza (shops and a food court) on the first basement and ground floors. A "Gwansang Bokhap Cheongsa" refers to an office building that combines administrative functions of a government office with commercial and convenience facilities.
The first basement floor houses an atrium hall and Dongjak Open Studio, offering play areas and video production and broadcasting experiences for families with children. On the first floor, an "Open District Mayor's Office" has been created, replicating the actual office of the district mayor. Anyone visiting the building can experience the mayor's office, and when needed, the space will be used to gather policy suggestions and facilitate communication with residents.
On the mezzanine (1.5th) floor, a community cafe has been established where residents can relax at any time in their daily lives. Additionally, outdoor spaces such as a pilotis area and a northern plaza have been created to host various events and cultural performances.
The second floor features an "Integrated Civil Service Office," which brings together frequently used services such as passports, transportation, real estate, and tax in one location to improve convenience for residents. From the second to the tenth floors, a total of 41 departments, including the mayor's office and the district council, are housed.
Meanwhile, the district office has requested that, since departments are relocating at different times, residents should check the start date for services on the Dongjak District Office website or blog before visiting to avoid any inconvenience.
Park Ilha, Mayor of Dongjak District, stated, "The new office is a uniquely designed Gwansang Bokhap Cheongsa that combines government and private commercial facilities, and it will become a hot place in Dongjak District." He added, "With this new beginning after 45 years, we will provide even higher-quality administrative services."
