SK Telecom Launches 'Penalty Fee Refund Inquiry' Page

SK Telecom, which decided to waive penalty fees for subscribers who switched carriers following the hacking incident, has launched a service to check refund amounts.

On July 5, SK Telecom released a refund inquiry page along with information on the penalty fee refund via its online service app, T World. The company announced its decision to waive penalty fees immediately after the joint government-private investigation team announced the final results of the hacking incident investigation the previous day.

The refund applies to SK Telecom users who, as of 24:00 on April 18, when the hacking incident occurred, changed or plan to change their carrier between 00:00 on April 19 and 24:00 on July 14, and who have penalty fees to pay.

However, those who newly signed a contract, changed devices, or renewed their contract after 00:00 on April 19, as well as those who canceled and rejoined during this period, are not eligible for the refund. Lines for special-purpose IoT or lines terminated by administrative order are also excluded. Device installment payments are not eligible for refund either.

Penalty fee inquiries are available starting today, and refund applications can be submitted from July 15. Refunds will be deposited into the account number provided by the applicant within seven days of the application date. The end date for applications will be announced later.
