Changnyeong County Governor Sung Nakin announced on July 4 that he visited the Changnyeong, Ibang, and Upo auction markets on July 1, where the 2025 new garlic auctions were in full swing, to observe the auction process and encourage those involved.

With the garlic auctions having started on June 30, daily auctions for Changnyeong garlic are being held in earnest every day except Sundays, and even more active trading is expected in the coming days.

This year's new garlic auctions began on June 30 and have been taking place at the auction markets every day except Sundays. Farmers from all over the country are participating in the auctions, checking the quality and market prices, and showing great interest.

Changnyeong County is the largest garlic-producing region in Korea, accounting for over 20% of the nation's total garlic production. Last year, approximately 80,000 farming households participated in the auctions, shipping more than 40,000 tons of garlic, with the total transaction amount exceeding 160 billion won. As the auction volume increases every year, the auction price of Changnyeong garlic serves as an important indicator for garlic prices nationwide.

This year's auctions have also proceeded smoothly amid high interest from various organizations, groups, and stakeholders from across the country.

Governor Sung Nakin stated, "I ask that farmers pay close attention to drying and sorting the garlic, and that they adjust the shipping schedule appropriately to prevent oversupply. I will continue to do my best to enhance the brand value of Changnyeong garlic and to ensure that our agricultural products receive the fair value they deserve."
