Mixed Reviews on Real Estate Policy
"Drive and Sense of Speed" Top Reasons for Positive Evaluation
President Lee Jae Myung and the Democratic Party of Korea have seen a slight increase in their approval ratings. In the Democratic Party leadership race, Representative Jung Chungrae is currently leading Representative Park Chandae among Democratic Party supporters.
According to a public opinion poll released on the 4th by Gallup Korea (conducted from the 1st to the 3rd with 1,001 adults aged 18 or older nationwide via mobile phone interviews; margin of error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level; response rate is 12.1%), 65% of respondents answered that President Lee is performing his presidential duties well. This is a 1 percentage point increase compared to last week's survey. The percentage of those who answered "not doing well" was 23%, which is a 2 percentage point increase from the previous survey.

Among those who gave a positive evaluation (648 people), 15% cited "drive, execution, and sense of speed," 13% cited "economy and people's livelihood," and 10% cited "communication" as their reasons. Among those who gave a negative evaluation (228 people), 14% pointed to "excessive welfare and livelihood support funds," 11% to "diplomacy," 11% to "issues of morality and lack of qualification," 10% to "personnel appointments," and 10% to "real estate policy and loan regulations." Notably, real estate policy was mentioned as both a reason for positive and negative evaluations. Among those who positively evaluated the president's performance, 4% cited real estate policy.
In terms of party support, the Democratic Party's approval rating rose by 3 percentage points to 46%. The People Power Party's approval rating fell by 1 percentage point to 22%.
With the party convention scheduled for August, support for Representative Jung in the Democratic Party leadership race stood at 32%, while support for Representative Park was 28%. However, when limited to Democratic Party supporters (457 people; margin of error ±4.6 percentage points), Jung's support was 47% and Park's was 38%.
