Mayor Joo Gwangdeok urges the Saemaeul Association to play a pivotal role
Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwangdeok) announced that the Namyangju Saemaeul Association (President Lee Deokwoo) successfully concluded the '2025 Namyangju Saemaeul Association One Mind Training Competition' at the Namyangju Sports and Culture Center indoor gymnasium on July 3.

This event was organized to carry on the 55-year spirit of the Saemaeul Movement, to promote communication and unity among Saemaeul Association leaders and members, and to foster community integration and the revitalization of the Saemaeul Movement.
Approximately 1,100 people attended the training competition, including Mayor Joo Gwangdeok, the city council chair, provincial and city council members, and executives from the Saemaeul Associations of 16 towns and districts. The event began with an opening ceremony, followed by commemorative photo sessions, speeches by the president and distinguished guests, a ceremony for distributing stickers for elderly drivers, and a group singing of the Saemaeul song.
In his congratulatory remarks, Mayor Joo Gwangdeok stated, "The dedication and passion of the Saemaeul Association are the driving force behind 'Super Growth Namyangju.' I hope the association will continue to play a pivotal role in the city's development." He added, "Our city will work closely with the Saemaeul Association to create the best future-oriented self-sufficient city."
President Lee Deokwoo said, "This One Mind Training Competition is a meaningful occasion that goes beyond communication and unity among members, as it prepares for a new leap forward for the Saemaeul Movement together with the local community. We will continue to strive to build a healthy community together with residents."
Meanwhile, the Namyangju Saemaeul Association is carrying out various activities to promote neighborly love and a sharing community, including distributing doenjang and soy sauce, river purification activities, and delivering scholarships of love.
