Second Round of Green Infrastructure Overseas Export Support Fund Established... 100 Billion Won Investment Planned This Year

The Ministry of Environment announced on July 3 that as of last month, it had established the second round of the "Green Infrastructure Overseas Export Support Fund" with a total of 259.2 billion won, and plans to pursue investments totaling 100 billion won within this year.

The "Green Infrastructure Overseas Export Support Fund" invests in overseas projects secured by domestic companies that promote green transition, such as carbon reduction, circular economy, and water industry, in order to support the successful bidding and export expansion of Korean companies.

Previously, the Ministry of Environment selected the Korea Overseas Infrastructure and Urban Development Corporation, an organization with expertise in overseas project investment, as the fund management institution responsible for establishing and operating the fund. In October of last year, it established and began operating the first round of the fund, amounting to 158 billion won. The first investment was approved for an eco-friendly ammonia production facility project.

Second Round of Green Infrastructure Overseas Export Support Fund Established... 100 Billion Won Investment Planned This Year

The second round of the support fund consists of 150 billion won in government investment and 109.2 billion won in private investment. The ministry is accelerating the identification of investment projects with the goal of approving 100 billion won in investments within this year.

The government plans to contribute 300 billion won over the next five years through 2028 and attract 200 billion won in private investment, thereby creating a total of three funds worth 500 billion won, including the first and second rounds of the fund. In addition, this year, a third round of the fund (project fund) with a scale of 92 billion won is also scheduled to be established sequentially.

Jung Eunhae, Director General for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Environment, stated, "In order to help domestic companies excel in the rapidly growing global green industry market, the government will not only provide investment support but also strengthen on-site assistance, such as dispatching bidding support teams."
