Dongsin University announced on the 3rd that it held a policy forum to commemorate the 1st anniversary of the Jeonnam Regional Era Research Institute.
The forum, held on the afternoon of the 1st at Donggang Hall in the central library of Dongsin University under the theme "Exploring Ways to Establish and Activate Educational Governance," was organized to develop region-specific educational governance suitable for the regional era and to derive effective governance operation strategies.
The event was attended by approximately 200 people, including Kim Daejung, Superintendent of Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education; Lee Juhui, President of Dongsin University; Yoon Byungtae, Mayor of Naju; Lee Jaetae, member of the Jeonnam Provincial Council; Jung Soonnam, Director of the Jeonnam Regional Era Research Institute; as well as key local figures, civic groups, educational experts, and local residents.
Superintendent Kim Daejung delivered a keynote lecture on "Jeonnam Educational Innovation Strategies to Respond to Local Extinction - K-Education Led by Glocal Jeonnam Education," introducing the major transformation in Jeonnam's education and the glocal education strategy for the region.
Superintendent Kim emphasized, "For Jeonnam to lead the regional era, a major transformation in education is necessary, including the designation of region-specific educational special zones centered on education and the establishment of a RISE-based cooperative system." He added, "Through student-centered education and the realization of glocal Jeonnam education, the region's education can become its future, and education itself can be glocalized."
Director Jung Soonnam presented on "Strategies for Establishing a Regional Innovative Education Governance System," while Noh Yongsuk, Director of the Jeonnam Community Building Support Center, discussed "Strategies for Establishing a Village School Education Governance System," presenting visions for effective educational governance models.
In the comprehensive discussion, participants including Lee Jaetae, member of the provincial council; Yong Seungmin, Team Leader of the Jeollanam-do Hope Talent Development Division; Ji Younghee, Secretary-General of the Hwasun Cultural Center; Jung Soyoung, CEO of Hampyeong Kkumkkuneunterjeon; and Min Byungki, Deputy Director of the Jeonnam Regional Era Research Institute, discussed concrete solutions for operating educational governance suitable for the regional era, such as the establishment of educational development special zones and integrated educational support centers.
Director Jung Soonnam stated, "The core task of the Regional Era Committee is to accurately read the region's complex situation, design the future of local education, and prepare practical alternatives." He added, "I hope today's event serves as a foundation for communities, village schools, and localities to build governance together, becoming a milestone for the future of the Jeonnam region."
President Lee Juhui of Dongsin University said, "In the era of popular sovereignty, residents must be the first to take an interest in and participate in local issues so that local governments can present realistic alternatives and blueprints, and substantial effects can be achieved through government support." He continued, "The role of the Jeonnam Regional Era Research Institute will grow in the future, and Dongsin University will also actively participate as a strong partner in local educational innovation and in solving regional issues."
