This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Service's relocation to the Innovation City in Seogwipo, Jeju. Over the past decade, the Service has carried out social contribution activities that provide tangible assistance to the local community, including delivering holiday gift boxes of hope to the socially disadvantaged, sharing kimchi, and conducting environmental improvement volunteer work in island regions such as Udo, reaching a total of 6,440 people.
In addition, the Service has promoted various community coexistence initiatives that embrace diverse groups, such as job creation and social adaptation support for young adults preparing for independence, learning guidance and counseling mentoring programs in collaboration with local universities, and the 'Seho Village Neighborhood Walk' project in partnership with local businesses.
Notably, last year, the Service hosted the 'GEPSTAY Companion Festival' together with local residents, providing a platform for communication where 22 small business owners and approximately 700 local residents participated through family-friendly programs, a small business flea market, and cultural performances.
In recognition of these activities, the Service received the highest rating in the 'Community Contribution Recognition Program' organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea National Council on Social Welfare. It was also selected as the first public institution in Jeju to be certified as a 'Career Experience Institution for Education Donation' by the Ministry of Education.
Kim Donggeuk, President of the Government Employees Pension Service, stated, "Being selected as an excellent case is especially meaningful as it is the result of our efforts together with the Jeju community. We will continue to fulfill our fundamental social responsibilities as a public institution and do our utmost to grow alongside the local community."
