Finnish Ambassador to Korea Visits DGIST to Discuss Science and Technology Cooperation

DGIST (President Lee Geonwoo) announced on July 2 that Finnish Ambassador to Korea Yuri Jervaiho visited the campus. The visit was organized to discuss ways to expand exchanges and establish practical cooperation in the fields of science, technology, and higher education.


Since his appointment as Finnish Ambassador to Korea in 2024, Yuri Jervaiho has focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries' innovation ecosystems by visiting major domestic science and technology institutions. Recently, he has been taking the lead in expanding joint research and talent exchanges through engagements with leading universities and research institutes such as Seoul National University and KAIST.

At DGIST, discussions were held with key executives on various forms of collaboration, including potential partnerships with major Finnish universities and research institutes, student and researcher exchanges, and joint research and development. The ambassador also toured research facilities to gain a deeper understanding of DGIST's educational and research infrastructure.


A DGIST official stated, "This visit will serve as an opportunity to continue close cooperation with the Finnish Embassy and further strengthen our global innovation network," adding, "We hope to make a tangible contribution to the development of science and technology and talent cultivation in both countries."


Meanwhile, Finland is recognized as a country with world-class competitiveness in fields such as advanced ICT, biotechnology, and energy. The Finnish Embassy in Korea has maintained active exchanges with various universities and research institutions in Korea. The DGIST visit is expected to further deepen scientific and technological cooperation between Korea and Finland.
