The National Policy Planning Committee, which is responsible for outlining the policy blueprint for the Lee Jaemyung administration, visited Hyundai Motor Group's Namyang Research Center to strategically foster autonomous driving technology.

On the morning of the 2nd, Jeong Taeho, head of Economic Subcommittee 1, and Lee Junghun, chair of Economic Subcommittee 2, along with other committee members, visited Hyundai Motor Group's Namyang Research Center to review the current status of research and development (R&D) in future mobility areas such as autonomous driving, robotics, and hydrogen·energy. From Hyundai Motor Group, Yang Heewon, head of R&D, Song Changhyun, president, and Kim Sung, president, were in attendance.

Jeong stated, "The autonomous driving industry is not just a new industry, but a core advanced sector for the 'real growth' pursued by the Lee Jaemyung administration," and added, "We will secure global technological leadership by reflecting the voices of businesses." In response, Yang emphasized, "To lead the future of mobility, corporate challenges and strategic government support must go hand in hand."

On this day, Hyundai Motor Group presented the current status and roadmap for technologies including autonomous driving, robotics, and hydrogen·energy. Jeong also personally experienced the level of technology by riding in an autonomous vehicle with Song.

The National Policy Planning Committee plans to accelerate efforts to secure global technological leadership through the 'K-Quantum Jump Project,' especially as countries such as the United States and China are fiercely competing for dominance in autonomous driving technology. Jeong stated, "Just as we succeeded in creating the Gwangju-type jobs model with Hyundai Motor Group, we will once again establish a cooperative model that innovates the industrial ecosystem."
