Gijang Governor Jung Jongbok to Visit 308 Senior Centers... "Listening to Seniors' Concerns On Site"

Gijang County (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced on July 2 that Governor Jung Jongbok has officially begun the "On-site Visits," during which he personally visits all senior centers in the region. This initiative was launched to strengthen communication with local seniors and to listen to their concerns and inconveniences directly on site.

Starting with the Gyori 1-ri Senior Center in Gijang-eup on July 1, Governor Jung plans to visit all 308 senior centers in Gijang County sequentially through October. During these visits, he will have direct conversations with seniors to collect their feedback and provide information on elderly welfare policies, such as the "Bath Voucher Support Program."

The county plans to use these on-site visits to inspect air conditioning and heating systems, safety facilities, and aging infrastructure within the senior centers, as well as to check the county’s disaster response readiness for the summer season.

Governor Jung Jongbok stated, "I will listen to the voices of our seniors directly on site and work to address each inconvenience one by one," adding, "We will do our best to reflect the suggestions in our policies so that seniors can experience tangible improvements."

In response to the increasing elderly population, Gijang County is pursuing a variety of welfare initiatives in parallel. In addition to providing operational, heating and cooling, lunch, and supplies support to each senior center, the county is also running health and leisure programs.

Last year, the county implemented support programs for hearing aids and walkers for seniors. This year, Gijang County has continued to introduce new welfare policies, such as providing congratulatory gifts for centenarians and bath vouchers for seniors aged 75 and older, which have been well received.
