Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced on July 2 that it will implement the "Public Wi-Fi Advancement Project" to provide citizens with stable and free communication services.
This project aims to replace outdated Wi-Fi equipment installed in high-traffic areas such as traditional markets and public offices, and to expand internet lines in order to provide a faster and more stable wireless internet environment.
The targeted locations for this year’s public Wi-Fi advancement include five traditional markets?Tongbok, Seojeongri, Jungang, Anjung, and Songtan Markets?as well as nine public facilities: Anjung Bus Terminal, Pyeongtaek Public Health Center, Songtan Public Health Center, Northern Welfare Town, Youth Culture Center, Korea Soriter, Mubongsan Youth Training Center, Pyeongtaek Veterans Hall, and Paengseong Welfare Town.
To achieve this, the city plans to complete equipment installation by October, following on-site inspections of traditional markets, design, and selection of installation locations. The city also plans to promote the installation sites so that citizens can easily access the Wi-Fi service.
A city official stated, "Through the continuous advancement of public Wi-Fi, we will reduce disruptions and provide a faster communication environment."
