Gyeonggi Province to Hold Gwangneung Forest Photo Contest: "Capturing the Beauty of Nature"

Gyeonggi Province announced on July 2 that it will hold the '2025 Gwangneung Forest Biosphere Reserve Photo Contest' until 6:00 p.m. on August 19, in order to discover and promote the value of the Gwangneung Forest UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

The contest will be held in two categories: ▲Ecology (such as Gwangneung Lady's Slipper, Siberian Flying Squirrel, etc.) and ▲Culture (such as Gwangneung, Bongseonsa Temple, Gwangneung Forest Dulle-gil Trail, etc.). Both Korean nationals and foreigners are eligible to participate.


The theme of the photos should express or represent the ecological and cultural value of the Gwangneung Forest Biosphere Reserve, including its various ecological resources, culture, history, and tourist attractions. However, the photos must be unpublished works taken within the Gwangneung Forest Biosphere Reserve after July 1, 2022.


To enter, participants must submit an application through the contest website and then send their photo files via email. Each participant may submit up to three photos. The submitted photos will be reviewed by a judging panel, and the final winners will be announced in September.


A total of 30 works will be awarded: Grand Prize (2 works), Excellence Prize (4 works), Encouragement Prize (4 works), and Honorable Mention (20 works), with a total prize pool of 9 million won. In particular, winners of the Grand Prize, Excellence Prize, and Encouragement Prize will receive the Gyeonggi Province Governor's Award.


Lee Taeseon, Director of the Forest and Greenery Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Through this contest, I hope that the public will discover the value of Gwangneung Forest and that the Gwangneung Forest UNESCO Biosphere Reserve will become more widely known."
