Trade Promotion Award Presented to Cheon Kyung Shipping (Corporate) and Ko Youngrip, Chairman of Gyeongil (Individual)
The Korea Trade Association (President Park Youngtae, Dean of the College of Economics and Business at Dongui University) held the "50th Anniversary Summer International Academic Conference and Trade Promotion Awards Ceremony" on June 27, 2025, on the third floor of Exhibition Hall 1 at BEXCO in Busan.

The event was attended by key figures from government, public institutions, and academia, including Park Hyungjoon, Mayor of Busan; Kim Seokjun, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education; Yang Jaesaeng, Chairman of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Lee Hannyung, Head of the Busan Branch of the Bank of Korea; and Kwon Dogyeom, Head of the Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea International Trade Association. They each delivered congratulatory remarks, adding significance to the occasion.
In the keynote presentation session that followed the opening ceremony, Song Junhak, CEO of Mitsui Soko Korea, and Choi Jiyoung, Manager of the Economic Research Team at the Busan Branch of the Bank of Korea, participated as speakers.
At the Trade Promotion Awards Ceremony, Cheon Kyung Shipping (CEO Seo Sunghoon) was selected as the recipient in the corporate category, and Ko Youngrip, Chairman of Gyeongil, was selected in the individual category. Their contributions to revitalizing shipping exports and imports and strengthening trade competitiveness were recognized.
Since its establishment in 1974, the Korea Trade Association has served as a leading academic society encompassing both research and practice in all areas of trade, including trade theory, international economics, global management, electronic trade, and regional studies. Currently, about 6,000 members are active, and the association publishes the SSCI-listed English-language Journal of Korea Trade (JKT) eight times a year and the KCI-listed Korean-language Journal of the Korea Trade Association six times a year.
The 50th Anniversary Fall International Academic Conference is scheduled to be held as a two-day, one-night event at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Busan from October 17 to 18, 2025.
