Over 110 Teams and 400 Participants
Fostering Employee Belonging and Engagement
Tokyo Electron Korea, a global leader in the semiconductor manufacturing equipment industry (President Roh Tae-woo), announced on July 2 that it held the finals of its in-house e-sports tournament, the '2025 TELDCUP' (hereafter referred to as 'TELDCUP'), at the Tokyo Electron Korea Hwaseong Office on July 1.
This event was organized to enhance communication between employees and management through e-sports, which are popular among younger employees, and to strengthen employees' sense of belonging and participation.
The TELDCUP preliminaries were held from May 21 to June 17, with approximately 400 employees forming around 110 teams. Two finalist teams from each of the four games?League of Legends, KartRider Rush+, FIFA Online 4, and StarCraft Remastered?advanced to the finals after passing through the preliminary rounds.
A dedicated website was launched and operated to provide real-time updates on the preliminaries and upcoming match schedules, and the event was also promoted through the company intranet and official social media channels. In addition, teaser and main promotional videos were produced and released. For employees at other offices?including Dongtan, Baran, Pyeongtaek, Icheon, Cheongju, Paju, and Cheonan?YouTube online streaming services were provided. To further increase convenience and foster a lively event atmosphere, additional company shuttle buses were operated between regions so that more employees could participate and enjoy the event.
Various events were also held to boost employee engagement and interest in the TELDCUP. Employees had the opportunity to enjoy unique experiences during the event, such as participating in the 'Catch Mind' (drawing game) event with the chairman and president, as well as a Gomoku match event with executives from TEL headquarters.
This year's TELDCUP finals were hosted by Jun Yongjun, a renowned StarCraft caster, Lee Hyunwoo, a former League of Legends professional gamer and commentator, and announcer Yoon Subin, who has extensive experience in e-sports hosting. Together, they vividly conveyed the intense atmosphere of the finals. The live broadcast of the event captured the heightened enthusiasm and participation of employees gathered at the finals, which was even greater than during the first TELDCUP two years ago, resulting in a more immersive experience.
An employee who participated in the event shared, "This event provided a precious opportunity to experience unity, laughter, and friendly competition with my teammates amidst the daily grind of work. It made me feel how much the company cares about its employees."
Tokyo Electron Korea plans to donate an amount equal to the total championship prize to the non-profit organization 'Forest for Life' to support the restoration of forests lost to wildfires. This initiative is also linked to Tokyo Electron's 'TEL FOR GOOD' social contribution program, specifically its 'Preservation of the Global Environment' activities. Tokyo Electron Korea will continue to promote active communication among employees and carry out various activities to further strengthen their sense of belonging.
