'Lunit Partners with Microsoft for First Big Tech Collaboration to Jointly Develop Medical AI Solutions'

Lunit to Integrate AI Solutions into Microsoft's Azure Cloud Platform
Collaboration to Accelerate Global Adoption of Next-Generation Medical AI
Customizable AI and Workflow Automation to Enhance Clinical Efficiency

On July 2, medical artificial intelligence (AI) company Lunit announced that it will jointly develop next-generation medical AI solutions with global big tech company Microsoft.

The two companies will integrate Lunit's cancer diagnosis AI solutions into Microsoft's cloud platform Azure, and will jointly develop customized AI services and workflow automation solutions that can be used in real clinical settings. With this collaboration, Lunit will accelerate the supply of its AI products to global markets, including the United States.

Specifically, the two companies will jointly develop an "AI Customization Service" that allows medical institutions to finely tune AI models. One of the biggest challenges facing current medical AI technology is that clinical environments and available data differ from institution to institution, resulting in performance variations even with the same AI. This service will provide customized AI models that utilize unique medical data from each institution, ensuring consistent and accurate AI diagnostic results at any hospital.

In addition, the two companies plan to jointly develop a medical workflow automation solution using Agentic AI. Agentic AI is an autonomous AI technology that can make decisions and perform tasks independently without human intervention, and it is currently attracting significant attention in the AI industry. This solution is designed to allow AI to handle the entire hospital workflow, from patient imaging to diagnosis, result delivery, and follow-up scheduling. It is expected to reduce the workload of medical staff and significantly improve patient care speed.

Through this collaboration between Lunit and Microsoft, medical institutions around the world will be able to remotely access the jointly developed AI solutions via Microsoft Azure without the need to build separate IT infrastructure. This is expected to lower the barriers to adopting AI solutions in medical institutions and accelerate their implementation in clinical settings. Seo Beomseok, CEO of Lunit, said, "For AI to have true value in the medical field, accessibility, scalability, and seamless integration with clinical environments are essential. This collaboration with Microsoft will be a decisive turning point in expanding Lunit's world-class AI technology to more medical institutions, both in the United States and globally."

Naveen Balluri, Head of Health Data and AI at Microsoft, said, "Microsoft is building an ecosystem that enables global innovators like Lunit to seamlessly provide cutting-edge AI solutions. By combining Lunit's proven technology with Microsoft's global infrastructure, we look forward to creating next-generation solutions that will transform not only the field of radiology but the future of healthcare as a whole."
