Equivalent to 2.5 Football Fields in Size...
Expected to Generate 16 Trillion Won in Economic Impact and Revitalize the Region Over 10 Years
Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Shin Sangjin), announced on July 2 that it has officially begun administrative procedures for the construction of the 'POSCO Global Center (tentative name)' on a key site within the Wirye District's Fourth Industrial Cluster.
The center will be built on a 49,308-square-meter site designated for urban support facilities within the Wirye Housing Development District. The building is planned to have five underground floors and twelve above-ground floors, with functions for education, research, and business. The structure will have a building area of 17,916 square meters (equivalent to 2.5 football fields) and a total floor area of 252,270 square meters. Its design incorporates a streamlined aesthetic that follows the contours of the land.
Seongnam City recently received a building permit application from POSCO Holdings and plans to complete the necessary permits within this year after consultations with relevant agencies and preliminary approval from Gyeonggi Province.
The project aims for completion by the end of 2029. Research and support personnel from POSCO Holdings affiliates will move in, and the center is expected to serve as an advanced technology base for POSCO.
Upon completion, the center is expected to generate approximately 16 trillion won in economic impact over the next ten years, including production, value-added creation, employment, and local tax revenue.
Shin Sangjin, Mayor of Seongnam, stated, "Through the prompt completion of permitting procedures, we will actively support the successful development of the Fourth Industrial Cluster in the Wirye District, job creation, and regional economic growth."
