Choi Jiseok Named Director General for Planning and Coordination at Ministry of Justice; Sung Sangheon as Director General of Prosecution Bureau
On July 1, the Ministry of Justice carried out the first round of high-level prosecutor appointments under the Lee Jaemyung administration.
The Ministry of Justice announced that, effective July 4, it had made new appointments for three prosecutors at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office level, and reassigned four prosecutors at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office level and two at the High Prosecutors' Office level.
In this round of appointments, Noh Manseok, head of the Narcotics and Organized Crime Department at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office (29th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute), was appointed as Deputy Prosecutor General, the second-highest position in the prosecution.
Jung Jinwoo, chief prosecutor of the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office (29th class), was appointed as the new head of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, the largest prosecution office in the country responsible for major investigations.
Sung Sangheon, chief prosecutor of the Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office (30th class), was appointed as Director General of the Prosecution Bureau at the Ministry of Justice, a position overseeing personnel, organization, and budget matters for the prosecution. Choi Jiseok, head of the Inspection Department at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office (31st class), was appointed as Director General for Planning and Coordination, a role supporting the Minister and Vice Minister of Justice and overseeing policy matters.
Im Eunjeong, head prosecutor of the Major Economic Crimes Investigation Unit at the Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office (30th class), was appointed as chief prosecutor of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office. Kim Taehun, prosecutor at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office, who previously served as Chief of the Prosecution Division during the Moon Jaein administration, was promoted and appointed as chief prosecutor of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office, which has jurisdiction over Yeouido, where the National Assembly is located, and specializes in investigating financial crimes.
The Ministry of Justice stated, "This personnel reshuffle was carried out to refresh the atmosphere following the launch of the new administration and to implement legal administration in line with the new government's policy direction."
