Gwangju Seo-gu Holds Capacity-Building Training for "Our Neighborhood Alleyway Restaurant" Representatives

"Promoting Onnuri Gift Certificates
and Expanding the Alleyway Economy Model"

On July 1, Seo-gu District in Gwangju held a capacity-building training session at Deulbul Hall in Seo-gu District Office for more than 70 representatives of establishments selected as "Our Neighborhood Alleyway Restaurants."

According to Seo-gu District, this training was organized to enhance service quality, including customer service capabilities of small business owners who are the key players in alleyway commercial districts, and to promote the spread of the Seo-gu alleyway economy model in connection with the activation of Onnuri gift certificates.


In particular, the training session explained the vision and implementation process of Seo-gu's flagship policy, the "Alleyway Economy 119 Project," and shared the significance of designating 119 alleyway-type shopping districts across Seo-gu within 100 days, thereby expanding the number of locations where Onnuri gift certificates can be used. Following this, Lee Eunsang, Director of the Namdo Dining Culture Development Institute, gave a lecture focusing on real-life cases from the restaurant industry and practical customer service know-how.


Participants expressed their satisfaction, saying, "There was a lot of practical content that can be applied immediately in our stores, so it was very helpful."


Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu District, stated, "This training is the first step toward sustainable growth of the alleyway commercial districts," and added, "We plan to continue improving the Seo-gu alleyway economy model through ongoing communication and cooperation with merchants on the ground."


Meanwhile, Seo-gu District has selected 100 hidden restaurants in local alleyways as "Our Neighborhood Alleyway Restaurants" and is providing support such as management and hygiene consulting, promotional marketing, and joint campaigns.


The Alleyway Restaurant Representatives Council has voluntarily prepared prizes worth about 2.6 million won and is currently running a "Stamp Challenge" event through August. In this challenge, customers can participate in the prize draw by visiting alleyway restaurants, receiving a stamp in their stamp book after dining, and submitting an entry?an initiative aimed at encouraging resident participation and revitalizing the local commercial districts at the same time.
