Umi Construction Strengthens Heatwave Safety Measures... Operates 'Lin Cafe' at Sites

On July 1, Umi Construction announced that it has strengthened its safety and health management measures to protect on-site workers during the summer. The company stated, "We consider a perceived temperature of 31 degrees Celsius or higher as a heat wave situation, adjust working hours accordingly, and have made rest breaks mandatory for outdoor work." Umi Construction added, "In accordance with the five heat illness prevention guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Employment and Labor?water, shade, rest, cooling equipment, and emergency measures?we provide rest areas equipped with cooling devices and have installed sunshades at the sites."

In addition to general rest areas, a separate space called the 'Technician Lin Cafe' is also in operation. This air-conditioned facility, which can be used both as a meeting space and for light refreshments, has received positive feedback from workers.

Umi Construction supplies bottled water, ice, ion drinks, and ice cream at all sites at all times, and also provides cooling vests and ice packs. The company is especially applying protective measures for workers in trades that are more sensitive to heat. In addition, management visits the sites every month to inspect for risk factors, and regular meetings are held with partner companies to further strengthen the safety and health management system.
