Formal Contract Signed with Tersan Shipyard in Turkey
Fifth Largest in the World... Largest in Asia
LS Marine Solution has signed a contract to build one of the world’s largest high-voltage direct current (HVDC) submarine cable laying vessels. The company plans to accelerate its entry into global markets, including Europe and North America.
On June 30, LS Marine Solution announced that it had signed a formal contract with Tersan Shipyard in Turkey for the construction of a submarine cable laying vessel. Through this contract, the company will begin building an ultra-large HVDC laying vessel with a cable loading capacity of 13,000 tons and a total weight of 18,800 tons. This vessel will be the largest in Asia and among the top five in the world, equipped with high-specification equipment capable of simultaneously laying HVDC submarine cables and optical cables.

In particular, the vessel is designed with a structure that minimizes connection losses even in long-distance and deep-sea areas, providing technology optimized for HVDC power grid construction. Only three vessels worldwide possess this level of specification, and LS Marine Solution will be the only company in Korea to secure such capabilities.
LS Marine Solution plans to leverage the new laying vessel to actively respond not only to domestic strategic projects such as the 'West Coast HVDC Energy Expressway,' but also to the growing demand for offshore wind power and ultra-long-distance submarine networks in Europe and North America.
The vessel will be constructed over two years and is scheduled to begin operations in the first half of 2028. In conjunction with the LS Green Link submarine cable plant in the United States, the company will establish a global turnkey order system encompassing design, production, and construction.
Tersan Shipyard specializes in the construction of marine vessels, fishing vessels, and special-purpose ships. It is recognized as one of the top shipbuilders in Europe for special vessels related to renewable energy. Its production infrastructure optimized for large special-purpose vessels and its reliable delivery capabilities were key factors in securing this contract.
An LS Marine Solution representative stated, "This investment marks a turning point, not only in securing equipment but also in strengthening our competitiveness in the global power infrastructure sector," adding, "We will secure a clear leadership position in the rapidly growing submarine infrastructure market, including HVDC, floating offshore wind power, and digital submarine networks."
