Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province successfully held the 2025 First Half Active Administration Best Practices Contest with citizen participation and ultimately selected six outstanding cases that were highly rated by the public.
For this contest, starting in April, the city collected excellent cases of active administration from working departments. After a review by the Active Administration Committee and a vote by all Yangsan City Hall employees, six cases were carefully chosen to advance to the finals.
In the final round, one grand prize, two excellence awards, and three encouragement awards were selected through the Yangsan Love Card online citizen vote (May 29 to June 4) and the Citizen Evaluation Panel review (June 10).
The results of the evaluation were as follows: ▲ Grand Prize: "Hwangsan Park Centennial Plan, Drawing the Big Picture" (River Division); ▲ Two Excellence Awards: "Resolving Residents' Concerns About Flooding with Excellent Runoff Reduction Facilities for a Safer Yangsan City" (Citizen Safety Division), and "Enjoy Tourism, Receive Gifts, and Revitalize the Local Economy with the Good 3+ Travel Project" (Tourism Division); ▲ Three Encouragement Awards: "Achieving Budget Savings and Increased Resident Satisfaction by Actively Discovering New Locations for Recyclable Resources?A Win-Win Administration" (Urban Management Division), "Residents of Mulgeum Village Unite to Transform Their Village into a Better Place to Live" (Regeneration Strategy Division), and "Rapid Provision of Early Vehicle Scrapping Subsidies Through Delegation to Specialized Agencies" (Climate and Environment Division).
Yangsan City plans to select the main contributors of the outstanding cases as "Outstanding Public Officials" and grant a variety of personnel incentives based on the award level, including: ▲ S-grade performance bonuses, ▲ priority for transfer to preferred departments, ▲ priority in training opportunities, ▲ special leave and additional points for personnel evaluations, and ▲ commendations from the mayor. In addition, a total of 3.9 million won in departmental prize money will be awarded (1 million won for the grand prize, 700,000 won for each excellence award, and 500,000 won for each encouragement award).
Mayor Na Dongyeon stated, "Active administration that citizens can truly feel is the best form of administration," and added, "We will continue to provide bold incentives and generous support so that a culture of active administration can take root in the public sector."
