The 'Onpum Campaign' is an annual sharing campaign designed to reduce welfare blind spots and enable residents to solve community issues themselves by encouraging greater participation and roles from the private sector. For the first time in northern Gyeonggi, the campaign introduced various donation methods, including online fundraising using QR codes, and the funds raised are used to support neighbors in crisis who are at risk of falling through the welfare safety net.

Approximately 140 people participated in the launch ceremony, including Kang Suhyun, mayor of Yangju City (public chairperson of the council), Chae Jeongseon, co-chairperson of the council, Lee Kyunga, head of the Northern Gyeonggi Branch of the Community Chest of Korea, members of the community social security councils from 12 towns and districts in Yangju, and individuals recognized for their contributions to sharing, demonstrating strong interest and support for community welfare.

Along with the ceremony announcing the start of the 2025 Onpum Campaign, certificates of commendation and appreciation were presented to 36 individuals who made special contributions to sharing over the past year.

Chae Jeongseon, co-chairperson of the council (director of Okjeong General Social Welfare Center), stated, "True shared care becomes possible only when each citizen becomes a principal agent of welfare," and added, "I hope the process of the public and private sectors thinking about and solving local issues together will be further expanded."

Kang Suhyun, public chairperson of the council (mayor of Yangju City), also remarked in a congratulatory speech, "True welfare begins not with systems, but with the concern of neighbors," and expressed hope that "the funds raised through the campaign will be sufficiently delivered to neighbors in need in Yangju City."

The Yangju City Community Social Security Council plans to use this campaign as an opportunity to lay the foundation for a more comprehensive system to identify and support households in crisis.
