Focused Crackdown on Tailgating and Cutting In Line... Police to Establish Basic Order

The National Police Agency announced on June 30 that it will work to improve practices of non-compliance with basic order in the areas of traffic, daily life, and the general economy affecting ordinary citizens.

Focused Crackdown on Tailgating and Cutting In Line... Police to Establish Basic Order

In the area of traffic order, the agency will focus on establishing order by targeting five major types of rule-breaking driving: illegal U-turns, violations of expressway bus-only lanes by vans with 12 seats or fewer, tailgating, cutting in line, and violations of traffic laws by non-emergency ambulances.

For these five types of rule-breaking driving, the police will concentrate guidance and enforcement efforts on vulnerable roads, and will activate camcorder-based enforcement for more effective crackdowns. Additionally, the number of undercover patrol cars on the Gyeongbu Expressway and regular roads will be increased. The agency also plans to develop advanced unmanned enforcement equipment for 24-hour monitoring and install it in areas with frequent violations.

In the area of public order in daily life, the agency will focus on establishing basic order by targeting the issues that most inconvenience citizens in their daily lives, such as illegal dumping of garbage, unauthorized posting of advertisements, and disturbances caused by drunken behavior.

In the area of economic order for ordinary citizens, the agency will continue to promote, enforce, and investigate to prevent ticket scalping, reservation no-shows, malicious reviews, dine-and-dash incidents, and violence committed under the influence of alcohol.

Lee Hoyoung, Acting Commissioner General of the National Police Agency, stated, "We will actively work to improve practices of non-compliance with basic order to meet the expectations of the public."
