GH Opens 'Space Welfare Home' at Dasan Forest Complex 2 in Namyangju

Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) opened the 'Space Welfare Home' on the 27th at Dasan Forest Complex 2 in Namyangju City.

Dasan Forest Complex 2 is a public rental housing complex with a total of 928 units, including 116 senior welfare housing units.

The Space Welfare Home is a multi-purpose community hub created by remodeling unused spaces within public rental housing. It serves as a space welfare model that contributes to improving the quality of life for the local community by allowing residents to dine together, communicate, and engage in various activities.

The newly opened Dasan Space Welfare Home consists of dining and lounge areas, retail space, specialized meeting spaces, resident experience zones, and a rooftop garden.

Within the Space Welfare Home, 'Dasan 38 Guksu' offers meals at an affordable price of 3,800 won, while 'Oneuldo Store' is a shared space where residents can make group purchases of side dishes and daily necessities through open chat.

The Space Welfare Home project is operated by GH through a public selection process for external operators such as social enterprises and cooperatives. The selected operator signs a two-year contract and can operate for up to ten years, providing sustainable spaces and services that foster integration between residents of the complex and the local community.

In particular, this Space Welfare Home is expected to generate various synergy effects, such as creating jobs for the elderly and revitalizing the local economy, as it is located near a senior welfare center, a senior citizens' center, and senior welfare housing.

GH has promoted the realization of space welfare by encouraging participation from experts and citizens through initiatives such as the 'Space Welfare Strategy Forum' and the 'Space Welfare Youth Contest.'

Lee Jongseon, acting president of GH, stated, "The Space Welfare Home is not just a facility, but a new space welfare model that leads resident participation and the restoration of the local community," and added, "We will continue to actively introduce and lead Space Welfare Homes, focusing on new project areas in the future."
