The National Planning Committee, which is serving as the transition team for the Lee Jaemyung administration, is expected to reveal the outline of its proposed 'government organizational restructuring' plan as early as next week.

On the morning of June 27, Jo Seungrae, spokesperson for the National Planning Committee, held a briefing at the Changseongdong Annex of the Seoul Government Complex in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and stated, "We have reviewed the president's campaign pledges, policy announcements made via Facebook, and speeches, and held the first round of issue discussions on the 26th. Today, we will organize the second round. We will proceed with the discussion as quickly as possible over the weekend to draw a preliminary conclusion, and after drafting the proposal, we will report to Lee Hanju, the chairman of the National Planning Committee, for coordination before making it public."

He added, "We are now actively working on detailing the national agenda and discussing organizational restructuring. In short, the process is gaining momentum."

The National Planning Committee has also decided to establish two new task forces (TFs). The 'Basic Society TF,' which will focus on core agendas such as basic income and basic housing, will be led by Eum Minsoo, an adjunct professor at Sogang University's Graduate School of Public Policy.

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) TF will integrate previously fragmented AI-related discussions across different subcommittees to serve as a dedicated body for formulating a comprehensive AI strategy for the new administration. Jo explained, "The AI sector is being discussed in a wide range of areas, including research and development (R&D), workforce training, industrial ecosystem building, governance, and AI government. Enhancing public inclusiveness and sensitivity to AI is also a major issue. The purpose is to form a TF that will propose an AI strategy and vision for the Lee Jaemyung administration."

At the National Intelligence Service (NIS) work briefing held the previous day, members of the National Planning Committee's foreign affairs and security subcommittee officially requested that the NIS conduct an internal investigation regarding the '12·3 Emergency Martial Law' incident. They also asked for improvements in the information-sharing system with other ministries. Jo stated, "The foreign affairs and security subcommittee pointed out the need for an internal investigation into the role the NIS played during the 12·3 Emergency Martial Law incident and requested that the NIS carry this out."
