Daegu Deokin Elementary School (Principal Hwanju Yeo) announced that sixth-grade archery team member Seojoon Park achieved four gold medals by breaking the Korean record in the 35m category at the 36th National Boys and Girls Elementary School Archery Competition held in Gwangju on June 22.
At this competition, Seojoon Park scored 352 points in the 35m event, surpassing the previous Korean record of 348 points set in 2011 by Lee Seungbul, a former student from the same school, by 4 points. With this achievement, Daegu Deokin Elementary School set a new Korean record in the 35m archery event for the first time in 14 years, once again by a student from the same school.
Seojoon Park claimed first place in the 35m category, tied the Korean record in the 25m category to win first place, achieved a perfect score of 360 points to win first place in the 20m category, and secured first place in the individual all-around, earning four gold medals and accomplishing the feat of becoming a quadruple champion. In particular, the perfect score of 360 points in the 20m event is seen as a testament to Seojoon Park’s concentration and game management skills.
Seojoon Park previously won two gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze medal at the 54th National Youth Sports Festival held a month ago. His quadruple championship at this competition once again demonstrates his continuous improvement and skill.
Seojoon Park stated, “It is a great honor to break the record set by my senior, Lee Seungbul, from the same school. I was able to stand here thanks to my school, my coaches, and my parents.”
Kim Kyungrok, coach of the Deokin Elementary School archery team, said, “This is the result of Seojoon Park quietly pushing past his limits through daily, repetitive training. He is an outstanding next-generation national team prospect, excelling in both technique and mental strength.”
Principal Hwanju Yeo remarked, “The Daegu Deokin Elementary School archery team continues to grow and develop within a long-standing tradition. I hope that more promising athletes will continue this tradition in the future.”
The Daegu Deokin Elementary School archery team has established itself as the nation’s top elementary school archery powerhouse through numerous national competition victories, record-setting achievements, and consistent talent development. The latest Korean record and quadruple championship are expected to further solidify its status as a cradle for future national team prospects.
