LG Uplus Appoints Korea's First Profiler Kwon Ilyong as Security Ambassador

Professor Kwon Ilyong Joins Voice Phishing and Smishing Prevention Efforts
Provides Consultation for In-Store Notices and Trains Counseling Staff

On June 27, LG Uplus announced that it has appointed Professor Kwon Ilyong, known as Korea's first profiler, as its 'Security Ambassador.' Professor Kwon will support LG Uplus's efforts to prevent phishing and smishing damage.

Professor Kwon is a criminal psychology expert who previously served as a detective in the violent crimes unit and as a crime scene investigator (CSI). Recently, he has appeared in broadcast content introducing cases of voice phishing and smishing, expanding his media activities.

LG Uplus plans to conduct voice phishing and smishing prevention activities with Professor Kwon, who has been selected as the Security Ambassador. As the first step, LG Uplus will produce content to raise awareness of the dangers of voice phishing and to introduce the voice phishing detection feature of its AI call agent service, 'IXIO.' The real-time voice phishing detection provided by IXIO uses context-aware AI to deliver risk alerts when a call suspected of being voice phishing is detected.

Professor Kwon will also support customer protection activities conducted at retail stores. He will review the content of prevention notices for customers and assist in training dedicated staff who provide counseling to affected customers.

Professor Kwon will serve as the promotional model introducing LG Uplus's efforts to prevent voice phishing and smishing, and will continue to collaborate by providing consultation on future security-related services.
