Gwangju Veterans Office Holds Award Ceremony for Exemplary National Veterans

The Gwangju Regional Veterans Office announced on the 26th that it held an award ceremony for 45 exemplary national veterans and distinguished contributors in celebration of the Month of National Defense and Veterans.

The ceremony, held at the Bitgoeul Civic Culture Center on the same day, was attended by more than 300 people, including major dignitaries, heads of institutions, military officials, heads of veterans’ organizations, and the award recipients. The event began with a performance by the Sangmu Military Band Orchestra, followed by the national ceremony, congratulatory remarks, the presentation and awarding of commendations for the Month of National Defense and Veterans, the Gwangil Veterans Award presentation, and an original dance performance themed on the Battle of Sandonggyo.

At the award ceremony, commendations were presented by the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, the Minister of Employment and Labor, the Mayor of Gwangju, the Commander of the 31st Division, and the Director of the Gwangju Regional Veterans Office, as well as the Gwangil Veterans Award. The recipients are individuals who, with pride and honor as national veterans, have contributed to the development of the local community and the welfare of veterans’ families, serving as role models to those around them.

A representative from the Gwangju Regional Veterans Office stated, "We will continue to do our utmost to spread a culture of respect and honor for national veterans by recognizing those who have contributed to the nation and society through awards for national veterans and distinguished contributors."
