Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwangdeok) announced on June 26 that a healing agriculture early potato harvesting experience for people with disabilities, hosted by the Namyangju Disabled Persons' Federation and organized by the Haebalgeum Disabled Welfare Association, was held successfully.

The event took place at the Haebalgeum Disabled Welfare Association farm located in Yongjeong-ri, Jingeon-eup, and was attended by more than 100 members of the Disabled Persons' Federation, including Namyangju Mayor Joo Gwangdeok.
Participants harvested early potatoes grown by people with developmental disabilities at Haebalgeum Farm, and enjoyed a time of physical and emotional healing through barefoot walking and harvesting experiences in the organic potato field.
Cho Dongpyo, president of the Haebalgeum Disabled Welfare Association, said, "This event has become a meaningful opportunity to interact and communicate with the Disabled Persons' Federation," adding, "We will continue to develop programs so that people with disabilities can enjoy a variety of experiences at the farm in the future."
Mayor Joo Gwangdeok stated, "It is very meaningful to be able to participate in this event, where people with disabilities harvest the potatoes they have carefully planted and nurtured, and share them with other members," and added, "I hope this experience will serve as an opportunity to enhance self-esteem and a sense of achievement for people with disabilities, and that it will be established as a symbol of warm solidarity and mutual growth in the local community."
Meanwhile, the Haebalgeum Disabled Welfare Association is leading the way in promoting the welfare of people with disabilities in the field of vocational rehabilitation, including flower seedling and landscaping education, horticultural skills training for people with disabilities, and Taekwondo education for people with developmental disabilities.
