Moca Foundation Unveils "Moca Chain," an L1 Blockchain for Data Sovereignty and Identity Protection

On June 25, the Moca Foundation announced via its official X account that it will unveil "Moca Chain," a Layer 1 blockchain specialized in identity information and user data. Moca Chain is designed to enable individuals, devices, and AI agents to manage, integrate, and verify digital identity information without relying on centralized platforms. When integrated into consumer-facing applications, it aims to enhance user-centricity, guarantee privacy, and drive growth. The testnet for Moca Chain is scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2025, with the mainnet following in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Moca Chain is engineered to allow the verification of on-chain and off-chain user data across all apps and chains through decentralized data storage, cross-chain identity oracles, web attestation data generation, and on-chain verification features. Yat Siu, co-founder of Animoca Brands, highlighted the vulnerabilities of traditional centralized single sign-on systems and emphasized, "Moca Chain provides users with true ownership of their data and guarantees digital identity sovereignty." Kenneth Shek, project lead at Moca Network, also added, "Moca Chain will be a unique infrastructure that returns control to users."

Moca Network, the launch partner of Moca Chain, serves as Animoca Brands' identity information ecosystem and is focused on the growth and adoption of Moca Chain. Institutions adopting Moca Network's "Air Kit" include Animoca Brands portfolio companies, partners, and collaborators. Through these partnerships?including major Web2 platforms such as SK Planet's OK Cashback and OneFootball?Moca Chain aims to reach over 700 million identifiable users. Moca Chain is expected to address issues of convenience, authenticity, privacy, interoperability, and personal data sovereignty in identity verification across various industries, including healthcare, recruitment, finance, and advertising.

Moca Chain provides true data sovereignty by enabling end users to directly prove their identity, securely store their data, and exercise granular control over how and to what extent their information is shared. This allows users to access various features and benefits across multiple platforms without exposing personal information, and to receive ecosystem access, benefits, and token rewards in exchange for data utilization. Moca Chain is expected to revolutionize the data ownership paradigm and set a new standard for digital ecosystems in the Web3 era.
