Tripartite Agreement Signed with SUNY Korea and IDCITY
Collaboration on Drone Technology Research, Seminars, and Forums
Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Donghwan) announced on the 26th that it had signed a 'Drone and Smart City Convergence Demonstration Research Cooperation Agreement' with SUNY Korea and IDCITY Co., Ltd. on the 25th.

This agreement was promoted to enhance the efficiency of urban management and advance the future mobility industry through the convergence of drone and smart city technologies.
The areas of cooperation include: joint research in drone-related fields; joint promotion of government-supported projects (Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of Science and ICT); joint planning and hosting of global drone events; joint development of educational programs and linked curricula; joint hosting of technology seminars, forums, and competitions; and the use of facilities to support research activities.
In particular, the city plans to support the demonstration of advanced technologies by drone companies through the high-precision positioning system (uGPS) at the indoor flight facility of the Goyang Drone Anchor Center, which is expected to contribute to elevating the precision of domestic drone technology to a new level.
Through this agreement, Goyang City aims to accelerate the practical application and commercialization of drone technology, as well as to intensify efforts to train professionals in related fields. In particular, the city plans to vitalize the drone industry ecosystem by conducting demonstration research utilizing the advanced facilities of the Goyang Drone Anchor Center.
Mayor Lee Donghwan of Goyang Special City stated, "This agreement will be a significant turning point in making Goyang the center of drone technology innovation," adding, "We will further solidify our status as a leading city in the drone industry through cooperation among industry, academia, and research institutes."
Since establishing a dedicated drone industry team in 2021, Goyang City has been building a systematic drone industry ecosystem and is currently promoting various drone-related projects centered around the Goyang Daedeok Drone Airfield and the Goyang Drone Anchor Center.
