The volunteer activity took place at Suyeon Rehabilitation Center in Ulju-gun, Ulsan, and was attended by about 50 people, including Shin Jinwoo, General Affairs Team Leader of Korea Zinc Onsan Smelter, Jeon Kyungsool, Director of the Ulsan City Culture, Tourism and Sports Bureau, as well as employees of Korea Zinc Onsan Smelter and officials from the Ulsan City Culture, Tourism and Sports Bureau. Suyeon Rehabilitation Center is a facility that provides care and rehabilitation therapy for children with severe disabilities.
Previously, in March, Korea Zinc signed a "One Company, One Facility Sharing Warmth Public-Private Volunteer Partnership Agreement for Welfare Facilities for the Disabled" with Ulsan City. In April, the company conducted environmental cleanup activities in and around Suyeon Rehabilitation Center and also participated in volunteer activities to help children return home safely. At that time, support items worth 10 million won were also delivered.
For this second volunteer activity in the second quarter, both employees of Korea Zinc Onsan Smelter and officials from Ulsan City Hall participated, adding to the significance of the event. Volunteers engaged in environmental cleanup activities around the Suyeon Rehabilitation Center and cleaned children's living spaces, including playrooms and therapy rooms.
A representative of Korea Zinc Onsan Smelter stated, "We are proud to have been able to volunteer for the children of Suyeon Rehabilitation Center for two consecutive quarters, and this time, it was even more meaningful to do so together with Ulsan City. We will continue to carry out warm and mutually beneficial activities in cooperation with the Ulsan local community, thereby raising awareness of welfare for vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities."
Meanwhile, Korea Zinc has recently been actively engaged in various social contribution activities, such as making kimchi for vulnerable groups in Ulsan during the summer, packing emergency kits for single mothers, and organizing blood donation campaigns for employees and their families to help ensure a stable blood supply in Ulsan. In recognition of these contributions, Korea Zinc has received the highest rating in the "Community Contribution Recognition Program" for two consecutive years, from 2023 to last year.
