The Gwangju Employers Federation announced on June 26 that it will officially launch the "Joint Safety Manager Support Project," organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, starting July 1.
Now in its second year, this project aims to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that lack sufficient safety management personnel by dispatching safety experts (joint safety managers) to help prevent industrial accidents and establish effective safety management systems.
Based on its experience with the project last year, the Gwangju Employers Federation plans to focus this year on strengthening on-site inspections and providing tailored consulting, with the goal of enhancing the effectiveness of corporate safety management.
In particular, the federation intends to establish a more systematic foundation for industrial accident prevention in the region by: intensively managing high-risk industries located in industrial complex clusters; identifying and improving safety management blind spots; and providing ongoing education and consulting to strengthen safety management capabilities.
Yang Jinseok, president of the Gwangju Employers Federation, stated, "Through this project, we will further raise the level of safety management among SMEs in the Gwangju area and continue to develop a collaborative model between the private sector and government for creating safe and healthy workplaces."
