On June 26, Gongju City in South Chungcheong Province announced that it will operate a 24-hour child care hub center to address gaps in care for children aged 6 to 12.

This initiative is part of South Chungcheong Governor Kim Tae-heum's welfare policy, the "Strong Chungnam Full Care Policy," and aims to fill the gap in care during hours outside of regular school education.

Additionally, although the Ministry of Education's Neulbom School policy is being implemented, the project is intended to supplement the demand caused by a lack of care spaces and personnel.

The hub center is significant in that it provides an alternative for out-of-school care by offering care services during weekday evenings, as well as on weekends and public holidays.

The city plans to start with evening and late-night care on weekdays and gradually expand to weekends and public holidays in the future.

The 24-hour child care hub center will be operated through the existing Singwan Dahamkke Care Center.

The service is available to children aged 6 to 12 residing in Gongju City, and reservations can be made via the Chungnam Child Care Integrated Platform "Ai Chungnam" or by phone.

Evening care is available from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with same-day reservations accepted until 9:00 p.m.

Late-night care is available from 10:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. the following day, with reservations accepted until 2:00 p.m. For emergencies on weekdays, applications can also be made by phone or in person until 10:00 p.m. The usage fee is 1,000 won per hour.

Mayor Choi Woncheol stated, "It is important to establish a 24-hour care system that families can trust in times of emergency," and added, "We will continue our efforts to improve the quality of public care so that children can grow up safer and healthier."
